Dr. Chelsea Cook talks "No Mow May" on CBS 58
Dr. Chelsea Cook was invited to talk about the benefits of “No Mow May” at CBS 58 News. See the full interview here!
She discussed the importance of minimizing disturbances to ground, twigs, soil, and other areas that insects may nest and over-winter through May. She also shared information about how critical early spring flowers such as violets in Milwaukee and even dandelions are as early food sources for a variety of pollinators that are emerging in our yards.
She also shared the good news that even one person’s choice to participate in No Mow May can have a positive impact on ecosystem health. From allowing insects space to nest and food to forage on, to creating healthier soil and supporting biodiversity, no mow may is a great way to reap the benefits of small scale re-wilding.
